Believing in Tim Tebow

Believing in Tim Tebow:

Remember last week, when the world was pulling its hair out in the hour after Tebow had stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers with an 80-yard OT touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas in the playoffs? And Twitter was exploding with 9,420 tweets about Tebow per second? When an ESPN poll was naming him the most popular athlete in America?

Tebow was spending that hour talking to 16-year-old Bailey Knaub about her 73 surgeries so far and what TV shows she likes.

«Here he’d just played the game of his life,» recalls Bailey’s mother, Kathy, of Loveland, Colo., «and the first thing he does after his press conference is come find Bailey and ask, ‘Did you get anything to eat?’ He acted like what he’d just done wasn’t anything, like it was all about Bailey.»

Journalling Tips

Journalling Tips:

So you decided to start journalling as your new year resolution and don’t know where to start?  The following tips are things I’ve learned from several years of journalling, and while they are aimed at Christians journalling for the benefit of their spiritual walk, many of the points will apply to journalling in general.

«The Next Story» de Tim Challies a $1.99

Tim Tebow: God’s Quarterback

Tim Tebow: God’s Quarterback:

And when the shouting was over, Mr. Tebow did what he always does—he pointed skyward and took a knee in prayer. In postgame interviews, the young quarterback often starts by saying, «First, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ» and ends with «God bless.» He stresses that football is just a game and that God doesn’t care who wins or loses.

Perú Paper

Perú Paper

Peru Paper hires women who might otherwise be unable to earn a livable wage. The company began operations with four employees. Today, Peru Paper employs 16 Peruvian women who have discovered new talents ranging from paper-making to card design to business management. The women handle every phase of production, from making the paper to creating the designs to packaging the finished cards. The final products are shipped to Greene in Jackson, Mississippi. Greene then sells the cards to retail shops and directly to consumers through the company’s website.

The business is run from the women’s homes, allowing them to care for their children and work around their families’ schedules. Work is assigned and coordinated through Danny Hernandez, Greene’s manager in Trujillo. Hernandez’s husband is a local pastor; many of the women are recruited through the church.

«Our idea is to give the women jobs and help them financially, but also to get them involved in the church and evangelize them,» Greene translates as Hernandez explains.

«We have ups and downs like any business, but I can see the Lord working in their lives. The greatest reward for me is being involved in these women’s spiritual lives.»

Top 10 Most-Searched Bible Verses: What’s Missing?

Top 10 Most-Searched Bible Verses: What’s Missing?

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that John 3:16 is the most-searched Bible verse, according to statistical analysis provided by the folks at Bible Gateway. They reviewed the behavior of some of the 8 million visitors who stop by their site each month, many of them chasing results provided by Google. I was intrigued to review the top 10 results, which I’ve listed in reverse order.

Let me mention an omission. Maybe you caught it, too. Knowing the whole Bible and not just the most-searched passages, you realize that the absence is glaring.
